- I started showing in
Anchorage Alaska in the mid 1980's in Conformation classes with a sable/white
bitch (Chatosha's Midnight Odyssey
- aka "Carmen" ) bred by Diane Biando of Chatosha Cockers.
Carmen and I took a award of Merit and Group 4th our first day in the
ring. Second showing we took a reserve to winners bitch.
Before we had a chance to enter the ring again, Sables were DQ'd by the American
Spaniel Club. I was devastated. I moved to Central Oregon in 1991
and established the name Desert Rose Cockers - for the area "High
Desert" and my name Rhonda - meaning Garland of Rose's. I have been
fortunate to have been able to purchase some very nice cockers to build my
foundation on and appreciate the breeders who trusted in me to do the best I
could with the dogs they placed with me. I breed mainly for show puppies -
always seeking out my next one to put in the ring. Puppies out of the same
litters being placed in pet/companion homes are place only on limited
registration. Several of my lines have shown a great ability to do Agility
competition and even though I cannot enjoy competing in this competition myself,
I love to see some of my very promising agility prospects going to agility
homes. Health testing is done on all my dogs being used for breeding to
help reduce the potential onset of genetic disorders in future
generations.
